The Wiregrass Amateur Radio Club serves all Amateur Radio Operators in and around Dothan, Alabama. The "Wiregrass Area" of the southeast covers parts of Southeastern Alabama, Southwestern Georgia, and Northwestern Florida, and is so known because of a type grass (that used to be!) found in the region.

The club meets at Covenant United Methodist Church, Family Life Center on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 pm. That's on US84W in Dothan, Alabama. All interested amateur radio operators or prospective amateur radio operators are welcome to attend!

Other regular events include the Tuesday night two-meter net at 2000 hours on 145.43 (tone 186.2) and the Wiregrass Peanut Pickers 10-X net on 28.490 mHz USB on Tuesday and Thursday at 1930 Central Time.

Dues for 2008 are $20 for the entire year. Beginning in January of 2009, dues will be $35. The first additional family member pays $10; the second pays $5; dues will not exceed $50 for the year. New members joining after July 1st pay dues of $17.50 for the remainder of the year. The club will apply $15 of each member's dues to repeater maintenance.

Over twenty-five years ago, local hams founded the Wiregrass Amateur Radio Club (WARC),  with the purpose of serving and educating the community in the art of Amateur Radio.  WARC believes in Community Service. Through emergency preparedness exercises, roadside assistance for motorists, and just good old communications assistance at local events, WARC has become a vital member of the communities public service network. We support the American Red Cross and EMA with communications to emergency shelters and back up communications to state and federal agencies. We provide backup communications and coordination for the National Peanut Festival and the Peanut Parade.
